Dysport Experts in Temecula

When it comes to antiaging injectables, Botox has been around the longest and is the most well-known. But that doesn’t mean it’s the only option or that patients should discount comparable neurotoxins like Dysport.

In fact, for many women and men, Dysport provides a more cost-effective and longer-lasting alternative.

Continue reading to learn all about Dysport, including how it works, onset of results, how long it lasts, and key benefits.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is an FDA-approved neuromodulator. Like Botox, it is comprised of botulinum toxin type A and injected into targeted facial muscles to relax wrinkles and lines.

While Dysport is specifically cleared for the correction of glabellar lines (vertical lines that form between the eyebrows), it may also be used to smooth horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet, and other moderate to severe wrinkles.

How Does Dysport Work?

Dysport has the same mechanism of action as other neurotoxins, including Botox, Xeomin, and Jeuveau.

During treatment, a small dose of Dysport is injected under the skin into overactive muscles.

It then blocks nerve signals that tell muscles to contract and produces a temporary paralytic effect. As a result, muscles remain in a relaxed state and are unable to wrinkle skin.

When Does Dysport Take Effect?

According to many injectors, one of the key advantages of Dysport is that starts working faster than other neuromodulators.

In fact, Dysport typically produces visible wrinkle reduction within two-to-three days. Comparatively, Botox usually takes effect within three-to-five days.

Another benefit of Dysport is that it provides greater diffusion than Botox, Xeomin, and Jeuveau.

As such, it is ideal for smoothing larger areas like the forehead.

How Long Do Dysport Results Last?

Patients can enjoy Dysport effects for three-to-six months.

Some patients find that it lasts longer than other neurotoxin options. However, this extended longevity is mostly anecdotal.
